Abstract

An experiment involving eighty, 1-d broiler chicks was conducted for 6 weeks to explore the possibility of substituting sorghum for maize in a standard broiler diet. Body weight gain was higher (P<0.05) in boilers fed sorghum or sorghum-maize diets. The FER, PI and PER were, however, superior only in broilers offered diets containing 40 or 100% sorghum instead of maize. Lower feed cost/kg body weight gain in group assigned 100% sorghum instead of maize diet showed that sorghum can replace maize economically in broiler diet.
