Malachra capitata, an abundantly available herb in Chhatisgarh region, contained 10.95% CP, 67.91% carbohydrate, 4.31% Ca and d.38% P. On feeding this herb to kids, the rumen metabolities viz, total-N (69.5 mg/100ml), NPN (34.24 mg/100 ml), NH3-N (7.61 mg/100 ml) and TVFA (91.6 meq./l) concentrations were normal with slight Increase in pH (7.36). The levels of total plasma protein (6.05 g/100ml), albumin, globulin, plasma urea-N and creatinine were normal. No toxic symptoms of feeding M. Capitata leaves could be observed in kids except mild non-specific diarrhoea.
