White Leghorn chicken and Guinea fowl layers of 6 each were maintained on a standard layer mash (16% CP and 2930 kcal ME per 100 kg mash on DM basis). Activity of certain enzymes viz, xylanase, α-amylase, protease, aspartate transaminase, alanine transaminase were present in all the segments of GI tract, however, urease was absent in duodenum and small intestine in both the species. The distribution of various enzymes in different segments of GI tract of both the species was similar.
