Twelve crossbred (HF x Deoni) calves of either sex (318±45 d; 76±3.97 kg)) divided into two equal groups, were fed a common concentrate mixture alongwith either green jowar (T1) or maize fodder (T2) ad-libttum for 75 d. The DM intake was higher (P<0.05) in group T1 than in group T2 and respective values were 79.20 and 68.50 g/kg W0.75. The digestibility of all the nutrients except hemicellulose was at par in both groups. The PCP and TDN Intake were also similar in both groups which were 262 and 231g and 1.48 and 1.23 kg in groups T1 and T2, respectively. The average daily gain was similar (291 and 305g) in groups T1 and T2 respecttvely, indicating that green jowar fodder is as good as maize fodder for feeding of crossbred (HF x Deoni) calves.
