In Sacco DM and CP degradability study was conducted on3 basal feeds viz. Barley (B), Wheat bran (WB) and Maize (M) and on 2 oilseed cakes viz. Groundnut (GNC) and Cottonseed (CSC) in three rumen fistulated mature goats maintained on concentrate mixture (CP, 15.9%) and mixed hay (CP, 4.3%). The percent effective degradability for DM (EDDM) and CP (EDCP) were higher for B (68 and 82%) and WB (71 and 72%) than for M (36 and 35%). Between two oilcakes, EDDM and EDCP of GNC was higher (66 and 74%) than CSC (43 and 56%). The rate of DM and CP degradation (% h−1) of B grains was highest (0.084 and 0.12) followed by WB (0.038 and 0.051) and M (0.034 and 0.032) and In the case of oilcakes, it was higher in GNC as compared to CSC. Maize in basal feeds and CSC in oilcakes were found to be slowly degradable and could be a good source of undegradable protein supplement in goats.
