Twenty eightsamples of feed/ingredients i.e. concentrate mixture, mustard cake, cottonseed cake, wheat bran, crushed wheat and ‘roola’ (residue left after sifting wheat Hour) were screened for aflatoxins, out of which 21(75%) were found contaminated with AFB1 (50–400 ppb). No sample contained AFB2, Pressure mincolumn chromatography (PMC) and TLC techniques for detection of anatoxins were evaluated and both were found to be equally sensitive. However, PMC technique was found to be more simple, rapid and economical and, therefore, is recommended for routine use in field conditions.
