Three complete rations in which ground castor straw replaced sorghum straw at 0, 25 and 50 percent levels, were evaluated on 12 adult Nellore and Deccani rams in a completely randomized block design. The digestibility of nutrients were comparable in all the groups. The animals showed positive nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus balances. Phosphorus retention was significantly (P<0.01) lower in experimental groups than in control group. It was concluded that ground castor straw can replace sorghum straw in the complete rations of sheep upto 50 percent.
