Abstract

Twelve adult non-pregnant Muzaffurnagari ewes (2–2.5 yrs; 26.15±1.00 kg b.w t.) distributed in three equal groups, were fed three varieties (13-1, JLP-3 and JLP-4) of chopped Shem (Lablab purpureus) hay ad libitum for a period of 30 d. The chemical composition was comparable amongst the varieties. The daily DMI varied from 3.96 to 4.25% of body weight or 89.13 to 97.94 g/kg W0.75 and the difference among the groups was not significant. The digestibilities of nutrients were also not varied significantly. The DCP and TDN contents ranged from 9.03 to 10.71 and 62.65 to 66.31% in the three varieties which were non-sigmificantly different in three groups.
