Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the cobalt status In soil, forage and blood serum of prepuberal Jersay heifers in different districts of Assam during summer and winter seasons. Except forage, significant (1P<0.01) seasonal differences wera observed for cobalt contents in soil and blood serum, with the highest values in summer season. Cobalt content in soil, forage and blood serum were significantly (P<0.01) higher at Barpeta farm compared to Khanapara and Barhampur farms. The overall incidence of cobalt deficiency in soil was very low compared to the forage.
