Abstract

Four experimental feeds, prepared by including subabul seed meal (SSM) for grower mash (Sugrass*) at the rate of 0 (T0), 5 (T1), 10 (T2), 15 (T3) %, were fed to four groups (n=10) of white Leghorn chicks individually from 9th to 22nd week of age. The proximate composition of SSM was CP 29.75%, CF 8.50%, EE 7.31%, NFE 42.04% and total ash 12.4% while the digestibility coefncient of various dietary feeds ranged: DM 70, 12 to 80.20, GP 65.38 to 73.20, CF 16.70 to 18.10, EE 75.40 to 77.80, and NFE 85.30 to 86.80. The feed efficiency was highest In T1 (7.16) than rest of the treatments. Similarly, the ssge at first egg laying and weight of first egg layed was delayed due to addition of SSM, however, the differences among groups were not significant. The cost of feed per kg gain in body weight was similar irrespective of treatment diet.
