Nutritive Value of Spent Citronella Grass (Cymbopogon nardus R.) In Cattle

Spent citronella grass (Cymbopogon nardus R.) was fed as a sole feed to six crossbred (Jersey x Local) adults bulls of an average body weight of 100.00±6.68 kg. The chemical composition of spent citronella (% DM) was CP 8.95, EE 1.75, CF 30.34, NFE 50.42, T-CHO 80.76, TA 3.54, Ca 0.91 and P 0.52. Voluntary DM intake per 100 kg body weight was 2.27±0.18 kg. The per cent digestibility of DM, CP, EE, CF, NFE and T-CHO was 46.80±2.31,41.06±0.66, 47.41±2.32, 60.75±1.45, 50.25±1.92 and 51.99±0.19, respectively. The balance of N, Ca and P were 10.83±2.45, 1.22+0.35 and 2.24±0.78 g/day respectively. The DCP and TDN contents were 3.67 and 49.31 per cent, respectively on DM basis.
