Abstract

Day old broiler chicks (n = 250) were fed on 5 isonitrogenous and isocaloric rations containing common ingredients. Fish meal (14%) was used as animal protein source (TI) and 25 (T2), 50 (T3), 75 (T4) and 100% (T5) of fish meal protein was replaced by soybean meal protein. In treatment rations, dicalcium phosphate and DL-Methionine were added to balance calcium, phosphorus and methionine. Live weight gain, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio and dressing percentage did not differ significantly among the groups. Total net profit was higher in the group T5. It is concluded that protein from fish meal can be completely replaced by soybean meal protein with supplementation of methionine (0.10%) in broiler ration economically.
