Twenty four male Barbari kids (3–5 months, 11.47–11.52 kg b.wt.) were divided into 4 groups and fed on ration in which Subabul (L. leucocephala) met 0, 25, 50 and 100% of CP requirement, respectively. The average DMI was 27.31±0.32, 19.98±0.34, 17.13±0.28 and 18.18±0.25 g/kg b.wt. in groups I, II, III and IV, respectively. The digestibility coefficient of DM, CP, EE and CF of the ration differed significantly (P<0.01) among groups. Balances of N, Ca and P were positive in all the groups. There was a significant difference in total live weight gain and average daily gain among the groups during six months trial. At the end of the experiment, certain haematological and biochemical parameters such as haemoglobin, RBC, WBC, DLC, total protein, cholesterol, glucose, urea, alkaline and acid phosphatases, SGOT and SGPT activity were estimated. The haematological parameters were similar among the groups. Significant increase (P<0.01) in blood urea and cholesterol and decrease (P<0.01) in glucose level were observed. Level of alkaline and acid phosphatases, SGOT & SGPT activities were not affected by the level of L. leucocephala feeding. Colour of urine was changed from amber yellow to turbid yellow due to increasing level of L. leucocephala in the ration. There was a significant difference (P<0.01) in glucose, albumin and urea nitrogen concentration in urine among the groups.
