Thirty birds each of Guinea fowl viz. Pearl (group 1), Lavender (group 2), Pearl male x Lavender female (group 3), Lavender male x Pearl female (group 4) and broiler chicken i.e. Red Cornish (group 5) selected at 20 weeks of age on weight basis were fed identical ration. The mean value of alkaline phosphatase was significantly higher In group 3 followed by groups 2, I, 5 and the least in group 4. The mean value of acid phosphatase was same in all the groups. The mean value of serum cholesterol and protein weresignificantly higher in broiler chicken than that in strains of guinea fowl. The mean value of serum calcium was significantly higher in group 1 followed by groups 4, 3,5 and the least In group 2. The mean value of blood glucose was significantly higher in strains of guinea fowl than that in broiler chicken. The mean value of serum phosphorus was significantly highest in group 5 followed by groups 1, 4, 3 and the least in group 2. It was concluded that blood cholesterol and serum protein levels were significantly lower in pure strains and crosses of guinea fowl than that, in broiler chicken whereas blood glucose level showed the reverse trend.
