Two experiments were conducted separately with two different experimental diets to evaluate dietary methionine requirement for broilers from 8 to 28 days of age. The diets supplemented with synthetic DL methionine at 0, 0.06, 0.12, 0.18 and 0.24 per cent levels to have a total dietary methionine content of 0.34, 0.40, 0.46, 0.52 and 0.58 percent in experiment 1 and 0.32, 0.38, 0.44, 0.50 and 0.56 percent in experiment 2 were fed to broilers. Significant (P<0.01) improvement in weight gain and feed efficiency were observed at all the levels of methionine supplemented group, however livability of broilers was not affected. Requirement of methionine for broiler starters was found to be 0.5% to get the maximum feed efficiency.
