Abstract

Two complete rations containing wheat straw (CR1) and black gram (Vigna mungo) straw (CR2) each at 60% level were evaluated for their nutritive value in crossbred sheep. The DMI was 0.84 and 0.89 kg, respectively for CR1 and CR2. There were non-significant differences among the rations in apparent digestibility of all nutrients except OM. The percent DCP and TDN of CR1 and CR2 were 5.35, 56.10, 6.64, 52.17, respectively. Both the rations could maintain the sheep with average daily gain of 60–62 g/day. Feed efficiency and cost of feeding on both rations were similar.
