Abstract

Twenty four crossbred heifers (10–15 months, 70–150 kg b.wt.) were randomly assigned to 4 treatment groups in a randomized block design. Control group (T-l), was fed seasonally available roughage and concentrate mixture, while the groups II, III and IV were given additionally Pachoplus @ 1/2 to 1 bolus/day, (T-II), Ruchamax @ 7.5 to 15 g/day (T-III) and a combination of both the medicine (T-IV). Body weight was recorded fortnightly during experimental feeding of 4 months. Body gain was higher in group III, followed by group II. A highly significant difference (P<0.01) was observed in Hb and PCV concentrations, whereas difference for TEC concentration among groups was non-significant. The glucose concentration was significantly higher (P<0.01) in group IV (52.0 mg/l00ml). The values of serum alkaline phosphatase did not vary among groups but variability for serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (SGOT) was recorded.
