Abstract

The nutritive value of a new variety (PBN-233) of napier bajra hybrid was compared with the standard variety (PBN-83) in adult buffalo calves. Fodder of both the varieties, harvested at 1.0 meter height was offered to each group of 3 calves, as the sole ration. The nutritional quality in terms of DCP and TDN of PBN-233 (7.99±0.31 and 67.6±7.8) was similar to that of PBN-83 (7.96±0.09 and 66.2±7.6). The voluntary DM intake 100 kg b.wt. of PBN-233 was higher (1.96±0.19 kg) than PBN-83 (1.68±0.39 kg).
