Abstract

Fifteen lactating Murrah buffaloes were divided in 3 equal groups. Group one (A) served as control, while other groups (B and C) were given feed supplemented with Ruchamax a herbal digestive tonic @ 15g twice daily for 7 and 15 days, respectively. The amount of concentrate was kept constant in all the groups during the study while wheat straw was fed ad lib. There was significant (P<0.05) increase in milk yield by 9.6 and 13.7% after 15 days and by 17.0 and 20.8% after 30 days in groups B and C, respectively. Considerable increase in wheat straw intake was also observed In treatment groups. Thus, supplementaion of Ruchamax was cost effective.
