Abstract

Straw of fourteen varieties of wheat grown under uniform agro-climatic condition was taken on study for its nutrients digestibility (72 h in three rumen fistulated bulls. The animals were fed on oat hay and sorghum fodder resulting rumen pH of 6.73 and 5.87, respectively. CP in varieties tested, varied from 2.25 to 4.45%, whereas, in sacco OM digestibility varied between 46.07 to 58.60% on oat hay diet and 44.44 to 55.94% in green sorghum diet. There was a positive correlation between CP content and DM digestibility (r=0.685) of straw of tested wheat cultivars. Among the straw of wheat varieties tested, UP 262 and PDW 233 were the superior while UP 2425 and Raj 3077 were inferior in quality among different cvltivars evaluated.
