Abstract

A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effect of adding a Fibrolytic enzyme containing Xylanase, Pectinase and Cellulase (Nutrizyme*) in layer diets on the egg production, egg weight, body weight and viscosity of intestines and extract viscosity of treatment diets in layers. One hundred and ninety two caged laying hens were allotted to four different energy diets (2700, 2450, 2300 and 2200 Kcal ME/kg) with 0.1 per cent Nutrizyme from 26 to 45 wks (5 x 28 days). A significant (P<0.05) improvement in egg production, feed efficiency and decreased viscosity (both intestinal and extract viscosity) was observed when compared with their respective control group except in high energy (2700 Kcal ME/kg) group. There was no significant difference in egg weight and body weight when compared with their respective control group.
