Abstract

To evaluate the nutritive value of Sares (Albizia Lebbek) and Neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves, two groups of six adult mate Marwari goats each of similar age, uniform size and conformation were taken and fed solely on Sares leaves and Neem leaves, respectively. The DM intake of Sares and Neem leaves was 3.26±0.27 and 3.12±0.18 kg per 100 kg of body weight, respectively. The DCP contents were 10.01% and 9.43% whereas TDN contents were 59.60% and 48.74%, respectively. It was concluded that both Sares or Neem leaves can be fed to goats as a sole roughage, preferably the Sares leaves during lean period.
