Abstract

Essential amino acids of defatted Polanga (Callophyllum inophyllum) oil cake (DPOC) and some of limiting amino acids of maize-DPOC (60:40) diet were determined. Five dietary regimens were fed to layer chicks. The basal diet (D1) contained maize 55%, DPOC 37%, soyabean oil 4% and mineral mixture 3.7% and had no amino acid supplementation. The diet D2 contained lysine, methionine and threonine, diet D3 contained lysine and Methionine, diet D4 contained methionine and threonine while the diet D5 contained lysine and threonine as supplements to the basal diet. The average weight gains of the chicks at the end of 4th week were 33.6±1.6, 100.6±4.3, 76.1±2.7, 38.9±3.4 and 91.6+5.9 for the groups D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5 respectivelv. The results showed that lysine, threonine and methionine were the flrst, second and third limiting amino acids, respectively in the maize-DPOC diet.
