Abstract

Three sets of Sunflower heads based (SFH) complete feeds consisting of 30,40 and 60 per cent roughage were formulated and evaluated for the proximate composition, in vitro organic matter digestibility (IVOMD) and netural detergent fiber digestibility (IVNDFD). The complete feeds containing 30 and 40 per cent roughage were quite similar while the diets containing 60 per cent roughage had lower (P<0.05) IVOMD and (P<0.01) IVNDFD. Incorporation of SFH as a sole roughage resulted in higher digestibility values within each set suggesting that SFH can be a satisfactorlly substitute for conventional roughages in complete diets.
