In Sacco Dry Matter and Protein Degradability of Green Gram (Vigna Radiata) Chuni in Buffaloes

Abstract

Green gram (Vigna radiata) chuni was evaluated in sacco using four rumen fistuiated buffaloes (279±2.0 0g b.wt.) fed 1.5 kg of concentrate mixture (containing 50% green gram chuni) and 4 kg rice straw daily. The average in sacco DM disappearance values were 44.21, 57.27, 66.61, 77.72 and 88.34 per cent at 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h incubation, respectively and the average CP disappearance values were 57.21, 64.95, 70.34, 83.45 and 84.98 per cent at 3, 6, 9, 15 and 24 h incubation, respectively. The readiiy soluble fractton (a), insolubll but degradable fraction (b) and rate constant/h (c) were 36.54,44.00; 55.9 3,45.81 and 0.0318, 0.1060, respectively for DM and protein fractions of green gram chuni. The effective degradability of DM was 58.3 per cent and protein was 75.1 per cent for green gram chuni. RDP and UDP contents of green gram chuni were 75.1 and 24.9 g per 100 g of protein.
