Twelve male buffalo calves of about 1.5 years of age were divided into 3 groups. These were fed 3 concentrate mixtures containing groundnut cake (GNC), dried poultry excreta (DPE) or urea as major protein sources alongwith triticale as the energy source. During 121 days of experimental period, the calves gained weight at the rate of 587, 611 and 686 g per head per day in GNC, DPE and urea groups, respectively. Two metabolism trials were conducted and the results showed almost similar digestibility coefficient of nutrients and nitrogen retention in the 3 groups. The DCP and TDN intakes were also practically the same in the 3 groups.
