Abstract

Voluntary intake and nutritive value of NB 21 fodder silage and the silage prepared by mixing Shevari leaves at 25% level to NB 21 fodder were studied by conducting metabolism trials on four Patanwadi hoggets. The average daily DM intake of NB 21 and mixed silage wag 2.67 ± 0.15 and 2.76± 0.21 kg per 100 kg body weight. The digestibility of all the proximate principles in the mixed silage except NFR and EE was higher and the intake of DCP and TDN was more than NB 21 silage. The daily balances of N, Ca and P were negative when NB 21 silage was fed. Addition of Shevari leaves improved these balances. The DCP and TDN content of NB 21 and mixed silage was 0.91 and 3.93 and 54.06 and 54.69 per cent respectively.
