A Comparative Utilisation of Guar Straw (Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba) Fed with or Without Concentrate Supplement to Draught Camels

Eight draught camels of 6 to 10 years of age weighing 495 to 562 kg were randomly divided into 2 groups of 4 each. They were put to draught of 18 per cent of their body weight and offered Guar straw in T, group as the sole feed and fed concentrate mixture in addition to guar straw in T₂ group. The DM intake was 72.11±4.01 and 76.58±1.63 g/kg W^0.75 in T, and T₂ groups, respectively. Digestibility coefficients of nutrients were significantly (PO.01) higher in T₂ group as compared to T₁ group. Reverse trend was observed in voluntary water intake, total Wl and total Wl/kg DMI. But no significant difference was observed in urination frequency between treatments. The number of defecation in treatment T₁ and T₂ were 11.25±0.75 and 8.17±0.30, respectively which were significantly different.
