Abstract

Four adult Nellore rams were fed rations containing either groundnut, coconut, cottonseed or safflower cake, supplemented with chopped jowar straw as soul roughage in a 4x4 latin square design. Dry matter intake indicated that cakes were palatable and acceptable. The digestibility of nutrients was higher for GNC ration, as compared to that for rations based on other cakes. Animals fed GNC exhibited highest nitrogen retention. Based on the study, it was concluded that GNC in particulars, is a better source of protein for sheep.
