Quantity and quality of milk of goats fed soybean hulls

West African dwarf (WAD) goats (18) of the Southeast Nigeria, nursing 2.0±0.5 weeks old kids and in their early lactation, were fed concentrate diets with 0, 25, and 50% soybean hulls, four times daily and oil-palm fronds forage given twice daily as basal diet. The differences in body weight gain and dry matter intake were significant (P<0.05), though, the digestibility coefficients for the various nutrients were unaffected (P>0.05) among the groups. There were positive nitrogen balances, but apparent biological value was higher in the treatment T₂ (42%) receiving soybean hulls. Soybean hulls were able to support production similar to the one obtained when feeding palm kernel cake to goats.
