The study was taken up to evaluate the feeding value of Lentil (Lens culinaris) straw for goats. Lentil straw (LS) supplemented with mineral and vitamin supplements was fed to 5 Barbari kids (17.6±2.1 kg BW) for 35 days. The average daily DM intake was 2.8% of BW. Digestibility coefficients for DM, OM, CP, EE, CF, NFE, NDF and ADF were 55.7, 57.5, 59.6, 72.8, 52.3, 61.3, 37.0 and 33.6% respectively. The DCP and TDN content of straw was 5.5 and 55.5% respectively. The animals exhibited negative N-balance (−1.4 g/d) and lost weight (33.8 g/d) clearly indicating that lentil straw should not be fed exclusively to kids.
