Performance of growing pigs on deoiled rice polish based ration

An experiment was conducted to study the performance of growing pigs fed deoiled rice polish based ration. Crossbred (Hampshire x Local) pigs (12; 3–4 m old of either sex) randomly divided into 3 equal groups were fed isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets comprising of conventional concentrate mixture (C) or energy sources replaced by deoiled rice polish without (DRP) or with 4% fish meal (DRPF). The daily feed intake was significantly (P<0.05) higher in C than DRP and DRPF groups. An average daily gain of body weight of 419.50, 303.50 and 339.50g and the cost of feed per kg gain of 30.2, 27.1 and 25.2 rupees was observed in C, DRP and DRPF groups, respectively. The DE and ME value of the diets was significantly (P<0.05) higher in C than DRP and DRPF groups. From this experiment it was concluded that deoiled rice polish could be incorporated up to 70% in grower pigs ration with distinct economic advantages.
