Abstract

Masoor (Lens culinaris) contained 6.8, 1.1, 31.9, 49.9 and 10.3% CP, EE, CF, NFE and total ash respectively on DM basis. The metabolic trial conducted in adult sheep and goat (6 each) fed masoor straw ad lib supplemented with 100g concentrate indicated that DM intake, digestibility of nutrients (except that of ADF), N retention and nutritive value were comparable in both the species. The results indicated that DCP requirements were comparable in sheep and goat, whereas TDN intake was higher by 42.9% in sheep and 25.8% in goat than the recommended requirements.
