Effect of higher dietary levels of vitamin E on laying performance of quails

An experiment was conducted to study the effects of supplemental vitamin E (VE) on productive performance of laying quails. Five experimental diets containing 0, 75, 150, 225 and 300 IU vitamin E/kg were fed to 36 day old laying quails (80) for a period of 84 days. The age at onset of lay, egg production, feed intake, feed conversion ratio and survivability was not influenced by the level of VE. However, egg weight increased (P<0.01) during early age (upto 13^th weeks of age) of laying quail fed on diet containing 225 IU vitamin E/kg. It was concluded that VE supplementation had no effect on egg production of laying quails.
