Abstract

Performance of 12 crossbred (Hampshire x Khasi local) pigs during post weaning and grower stages was studied on maize and deoiled rice polish (C), maize (T1) or deoiled rice polish (DRP, T2) based rations. The ADG, FCR and DM and CP digestibility was lower (P<0.01) in T2 than in T1 or C fed pigs during both phases. In the 2nd experiment 16 pigs divided into 4 equal groups were offered either maize based ration (T1) or T1 supplement with DL-methionise @ 150 g/q feed (T2), DRP based ration (T3), or T3 supplemented with live fungi and enzyme mixture @ 50 g/q feed. Supplementation of DL-methionine to maize-soy or live fungi and enzyme mixture to DRP based ration during grower stage increased (P<0.01) ADG, digestibility of DM and CP leading to superior (P<0.01) FCR. It was concluded that the nutritional value of maize or DRP based ration could be improved by supplementing with methionine or live fungi and enzymes mixture, respectively.
