Response of broilers to enzyme supplementation in diet containing different fiber levels

A trial was undertaken to study the effect of enzyme supplementation to the iso-nitrogenous and iso-caloric diets containing different fiber levels on the growth performance and nutrient utilization in broilers. Sexed commercial broilers (224) distributed in to 16 equal groups were offered 8 diets containing 6, 8, 10 and 12% CF with or without enzyme (100g/q) supplemented up to 6 wks of age. Body weight gain and feed conversion efficiency improved (P<0.05) at each dietary fiber level with the inclusion of enzyme. The protein efficiency ratio (PER) improved (P<0.05) when enzyme was supplemented to the diets containing 10% CF. Digestibility of proximate components and cell wall components was maximum at 6% CF with enzyme supplementation. It was concluded that the crude fiber of broiler diets can be increased upto 8% when supplemented with mixture of fibrolytic enzymes.
