The study was conducted to explore the detoxification ability of activated charcoal (AC) on chlorpyriphos (CPP) in growing Karan Fries (KF) male calves. KF calves (16; 101.5±5.0kg BW) were adapted on basal ration for 30 days, then randomly divided into four equal groups were fed either basal ration(T0), T0 with 2% AC (T1), T0 with 25ppm CPP (T2) or T2 supplemented with 2% AC on DM basis (T3) for 98 days. Addition of CPP in diet increased (P<0.01) the blood glucose, SGPT and SGOT and decreased (P<0.01) the ChE. Supplementation of AC indicated that it might act as an antidote as it brought the aforesaid affected parameters to near their normal value. There were no changes in blood trace elements by both CPP and AC.
