Male crossbred calves (20; 7–15 d old of 22.1 kg BW) randomly divided into 4 equal groups were fed on milk and calf starter up to 8 weeks of age, thereafter fed on concentrate mixture and oat hay up to 13 weeks of age. The diet of calves in group I, II, III and IV was supplemented with 0, 125, 250 and 500 IU feed grade DL-α-tocopheryl acetate, respectively. The nutrient intake, digestibility of nutrients, balance of N, Ca, P and gain in BW were similar in all the groups. It was concluded that supplementation of vitamin E did not have any positive effect on the performance of young calves.
