Natural Fodders Commonly Relished by Mithun in Arunachal Pradesh

The Mithuns (Bos frontalis) solely depend on natural fodders commonly available in the forest in Arunachal Pradesh. Fodder species Viz. tree leaves, shrubs, herbss grasses and creepers were identified from Papum-Pare and Lower subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. A total of 20 different species which were most commonly relished were analyzed for the proximate composition. Among the tree fodders, Ficus hirta contained maximum CP content (9.9%). The range of nutrient content in the tree fodders showed 9.60–91.9% CP, 1.10–4.20% EE, 15.3–29.8% C F, 36.6–66.30% NFE and 4.00–19.1% TA content. Among herbs and shrubs, Boemeria sps. contained maximum CP content (18.80%) and Carex cruciata contained maximum TA content (19.60%).
