A survey about the feeding status of milch buffaloes, carried out at Chitrakoot of U.P. and M.P. was undertaken on the basis of different categories of farmers having different land holdings, viz, marginal (0.0–1.0 hectare, group 1) small (1.1–2.0 hectare, group 2), medium (2.1–4.0 hectare, group 3) and large (above 4.0 hectare, group 4). The average surplus DM supply was 240, 200, 180 and 140 g/d in milch buffaloes in marginal, small, medium and large categories of farmers, respectively. The average DCP intake by buffaloes in corresponding categories was deficit by 24, 40, 51 and 85 g/d. The average TDN supply was also deficit by 301,559,408 and 53 g/d in milch buffaloes in the four categories of farmers groups, respectively. Overall, it was indicated that irrespective of DM, the amount of DCP and TDN was not supplied to milch buffaloes by the different categories of farmers as per their requirement.
