An experiment was conducted to study the comparative nutrient utilization from sorghum stover based diet in Murrah and Bhadawari buffalo heifers. Six growing buffalo heifers from each breed were fed ad lib sorghum stover and supplemented with a concentrate mixture @ 1.0% of body weight for 90 days. The intake, digestibility of nutrients and N-retention were similar in all the animals. The diet contained similar TDN and DCP in Murrah (55.69 and 5.59%) and in Bhadawari (55.87 and 5.61%) buffaloes. It was concluded that nutrient utilization efficiency was comparable in Murrah and Bhadawari buffalo heifers under stall fed conditions.
