Abstract

Status of copper, iron and zinc in berseem fodders in all the districts of Haryana was studied. All the districts were divided into two zones on the basis of agro-climatic zones of Haryana state as per All-India Coordinated Research Project on Agro-Meteorology. The samples of berseem fodder were collected from 19 districts of Haryana. About 28.6% samples of berseem fodder collected from zone I, were found to be deficient in copper content. Similarly, from zone II, the overall deficiency of copper was 27.1%. The zinc content in berseem fodder was also found to be deficient in Haryana districts and overall deficiency of zinc was 53.0%. The iron content of all the berseem samples was adequate. It was concluded that there is a need to supplement area specific mineral mixture to fulfill the deficiency of copper and zinc in Haryana state depending upon the intake of berseem fodder.
