Twelve non descript local goats, randomly divided into two groups, were fed complete feed pellets (8 mm diameter) T1 (12% CP, 55% TDN), T2 (14% CP, 60% TDN) upto 150 days of experiment. Roughage to concentrate ratio was maintained at 60:40 with arhar straw as basal roughage. The rumen and blood biochemical profile were studied at monthly intervals. The rumen liquor parameters varied significantly (P < 0.0.1) between the treatments except for pH. The average values for rumen liquor pH, NH3-N, TVFA, total nitrogen, TCA-ppt-N and NPN for T1 and T2 groups were 6.25 and 6.33, 15.09 and 21.94 mg/100 ml SRL, 10.93 and 12.24 m mol/100 ml SRL, 70.12 and 99.51 mg/100 ml SRL, 33.84 and 53.63 mg/100 ml SRL and 36.46 and
45.84 mg/100 ml SRL, respectively. The blood biochemical parameters also varied significantly (P < 0.01) except for the serum calcium. The mean values for T1 and T2 groups were, glucose
(62.52 and 53.67 mg/dl), total serum protein (6.20 and 7.06 g/dl), serum albumin (3.25 and 3.89 g/dl), serum globulin (2.94 and 3.16 g/dl), total lipids (349.79 and 426.18 mg/100 ml), serum calcium (10.59 and 10.38 mg/dl) and serum phosphorus (4.82 and 5.63 mg/dl).
