Abstract

The study was conducted to assess the irrigation requirements, bio-mass yield, proximate composition and cell wall constituents of twenty one perennial fodder varieties. Four varieties (APBN-l, CO-3, CO-63 and Congo signal), having least irrigation requirements but high biomass yield, were able to meet the maintenance requirements of growing buffalo calves, however, APBN-l and CO-3 were superior to Congo signal and CO-63 by virtue of their higher CP and TDN content.
