Effect of Cottonseed Meal Inclusion in the Feeds of Labeo rohita

The present study was conducted to assess the effect of cottonseed meal based diets on the growth and survival of rohu, Labeo rohita (Hamilton, 1822). Cottonseed meal was used in the diets at four different levels 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. Control diet was devoid of cottonseed meal. All the formulated diets were isonitrogenous with 30% crude protein. Feed was given at the rate of 5% of body weight and animals were fed twice in a day for 3 months. Growth, percentage of survival, feed conversion ratio, protein efficiency ratio and condition factor were estimated fortnightly. Specific growth rate and Hepatosomatic index were M & M estimated at the end of the experiment. Significant difference was observed in growth and no mortality was observed during the experiment. Better performance was observed at 10% CSM and further inclusion of CSM retard the growth and condition of the fishes.
