Abstract

Utilization of turnip (Brassica campestris) meal in place of wheat bran was studied in 100 day-old White Leghorn Cockerel chicks from 0-3 weeks. The turnip meal replaced wheat bran at 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% in the starter diets. Upto 75% replacement level, the chicks manifested similar weight gain and feed efficiency when compared to control. But at 100% turnip meal level there was significantly (P <0.05) lower weight gain and feed efficiency in comparison to other treatment groups. No mortality was recorded for any of the groups.
