The effect of 35 (basal), 65 and 80 ppm dietary Zn supply on the digestibility of different proximate principles were investigated in growing calves maintained on Sehima nervosum dominant dry grass and concentrate diet. At 65 ppm Zn supplementation, digesti- ‘ uility of OM, NFE and EE were highest and there was maximum XDN intake. Body tissue protein deposition of 7.62 g/day in this group was highest followed by 7.38 g/day and 6.20 g/day at 80 ppm and 35 ppm dietary Zn level groups respectively. Increasing Zn levels to 80 ppm showed no additional advantage.
