Abstract

Comparative dietary response on meat characteristics and meat quality attributes of the isolated strain (Direct fed microbial- DFM) Enterococcus faecium isolated from leopard faeces (Panthera leo) was studied in poultry broiler birds based on graded dose rate offered to vancobb commercial poultry broilers up to 6 weeks of age. The formulated experimental diets were T0:Control (Culture medium); T1- isolated direct fed microbial namely Enterococcus faecium (2.8×108 cfu/kg feed); T2-Enterococcus faecium (4.8×108 cfu/kg feed), T3 Enterococcus faecium (6.8×108 cfu/kg feed) and T4 Enterococcus faecium (8.8×108 cfu/kg feed). Feeding of isolated direct fed microbial (DFM) Enterococcus faecium from leopard faeces (Pathera leo) at a dose rate of 2.8×108 cfu as a DFM/probiotic to broiler chicken increased(P<0.05) the yield of breast including thePectoralis major and Pectoralis minor muscles.
