Abstract

Mineral content of common feeds and fodders under existing feeding practices in transitional plain of inland drainage (RJ-3) of Rajasthan have been evaluated that are fed and browsed by camel to fulfill the trace mineral requirement. Iron and Manganese were found non-limiting. Copper content of straws were towards marginal side (9.79±0.41ppm). Tree leaves were good source of Cu (15.76±0.99ppm) whereas pasture grasses in the community grazing land contained adequate level of Cu. Zinc levels ranges from14.00±4.00 to 40.86±6.25 ppm. Deficiency of Zn was observed in most of the basal fodders, tree leaves and concentrate ingredients of camel under all prevalent feeding practices. Iron content of all feedstuffs was found to be reasonably higher than the critical levels (361.21±27.06 to 782.72±23.73ppm) in all feeds and fodders being fed to camel. Mn content was above the critical level in all these crop residues (55.29±1.95ppm) except guar straw.
