This experiment was designed to assess the effect of probiotic (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on the growth performance and economics of crossbred (Large White Yorkshire 50% × Desi 50%) weaned pigs. Twenty four crossbred piglets just after weaning at the age of 2.5–3 months of both sexes were selected and distributed randomly four groups with six piglets in each group. Saccharomyces cerevisiae had been added at level of 0.25%, 0.50% and 1% of feed in T2, T3 and T4 group, respectively and T1 was taken as control group without supplementation. Average daily gain was significantly different (P<0.05) among the groups. The average daily gain in T3 group was significantly higher as compared to T1, T2 group (P<0.05). Feed intake during entire period of study was higher in group T3 compared to other groups. Feed efficiency during entire period of study was also higher in group T3 compared to other groups. The cost per kg weight gain in T1, T2, T3 and T4 was Rs. 54.42, 54.91, 46.77 and 51.94. It can be concluded that 0.50% Saccharomyces cerevisiae supplementation is effective to improve average daily gain and economy of pig production.
